Candle Scent Notes Explained

Hove you ever wondered what exactly is meant by a candle’s notes? I found this great description online and my suspicion that the heart of a candle’s scent is determined by the middle note was correct.

  • Top notes

The first impression of the candle, usually light and airy, and often citrus or herb-scented.

  • Middle notes

The heart of the candle, which takes about 10–20 minutes to fully develop. These scents are more well-rounded, distinguished, and hearty, such as flowers and spices.

  • Base notes

The densest fragrance, which lingers in your home even after you have snuffed out the flame. These scents are deep and comforting, such as musky and sweet scents such as vanilla or cedar.
